Today, me, my sister, and my Gammie went out on a walk through a nature trail. Surpisingly enough, we had no idea this trail existed until a few days ago!
We stopped once we got out of the nature trail at a small shady grove of trees. We mediated, while my sister took selfies, LOL. While we were mediating, we observed what we saw around us, we became aware of our surroundings. When we first arrived to the grove, the ground and our surroundings were'nt that interesting. But when we took time to appreciate and become aware of that rotting leaf on the ground or that stick with a tiny ant scavenging for food. Suddenly, that stick meant something to me. It wasnt just stick or just a leaf. It was something. So, I want you to try it, to see what things you find. Here is a quick overview of the meditation we did if you are interested. 1. Just briefly close your eyes, and take a few deep breaths. 2. Everytime you breath all the way out, soften your body and relax anything that is tight or tense. 3. Try to pause when you exhale before you inhale again. 4. Now, with your eyes still closed, focus on the sounds around you, whether it be the air vent in your room, a squirrel climbing up a tree, etc. 5. Now, just open you eyes slightly, about half mast. See anything that you can see, observe the space you are in and your surroundings. You might realize that some things now have a certain significance to you than it did before. It's amazing! 6. Open your eyes all the way. It's so interesting how mindfulness and meditation can improve our moods and open our eyes! Happy dreaming! Emily
